My Journey
I started practicing yoga as a teenager with my mum in a local village hall to ease my insomnia and anxiety. Yoga started as therapy for me and continues to be until this day.
My true dedication to yoga & mental health management started at university when I was diagnosed with a heart condition. The condition affected my physical and mental health. It was manageable most of the time, but eventually added huge stress and anxiety over the years. I struggled in hot, small, busy and many other awkward environments that we regularly find ourselves in. I experienced a severe heart arrest in my early 20’s that resulted in me really struggling with my mental health and my physical health management had to change forever.
I took various medications and attended counselling support groups, but neither were a long-term solution to the ongoing battle we all face with mental health. I eventually got back into meditation and decided to use natural medicine instead.
Meditation, breathwork and yoga helped me through some really tough times and ever since have been a huge part of my life.
I gained a BSc degree in NeuroScience & Psychology. My degree gave me the foundation understanding of the brain and human behaviour as well as a more complex psychological understanding of what mental health is. Since then I’ve continued to advance my studies in; Mental Health Counselling, Neurolinguistic Programming, Pattern Psychology, Trauma Therapy, CIPD HR, People Management, Employment Law and Yoga Therapy.
I began my career by joining the founding team of a travel technology start-up where I was lucky enough to be part of building a world class team. During this experience I learnt about the foundations, behaviours and requirements for rapid business growth. Over the past 10 years I’ve now worked with a variety of tech/SaaS start-ups consulting and coaching their teams through change management and building a strong culture by combining my HR & therapy qualifications with executive coaching.
After years working in technology, I took a year break to fully advance my yoga and mental health studies back in 2016 (You can see my full qualification breakdown in the previous page). I launched my business, DeepTide, in 2017 as a Yoga, Therapy & Coaching consultancy, split between leadership and confidence coaching and mental health and yoga.
I’m still on my journey. We are all on a journey of self-development.
